Search through any Alabama history book, and the name James Mayfield is likely to be mentioned. James Mayfield IV comes from a long line of notable figures in Alabama history, including his father and grandfather, who served as justices on the Alabama Supreme Court from 1954-56 and 1908-20, respectively. While Mayfield chose not to continue on his family’s legal legacy, he has found purpose in another area of work in Alabama: rural development.

As the owner of over 1200 acres of shoreline property along Holt Lake, Mayfield saw a tremendous opportunity to parcel off his family’s land into large, ten-acre equestrian lots and smaller waterfront lots.
